VRPZ-40 contains Pantoprazole Sodium 40mg formulated as gastro-resistant tablets. Pantoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell.

Pharmacological Mechanism of Action
Pantoprazole is concentrated in the acidic canaliculi of parietal cells and transformed into its active cyclic sulfenamide, which covalently bonds to cysteine residues of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme, thereby blocking the final step in gastric acid production.
